First rubber floor in the world to receive the gold certification.
Noracare rubber floors recognized with gold Cradle to Cradle Certified® certification.
The noracare rubber floors by nora® by Interface have been awarded the prestigious gold Cradle to Cradle Certified® certification by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, making them the first in the world to receive this recognition. This leading institute for product assessments is dedicated to promoting and developing a circular economy through its certification process. Out of the 45 colors available in the noracare seneo and noracare uneo product range, 25 have achieved the gold certification due to their high recyclability. As a global leader in rubber flooring, nora® by Interface contributes to sustainable eco-efficiency in the flooring industry with its products.
“We have continuously developed our products and processes in the field of sustainability over the past years. We are proud of our teams for their relentless efforts, which have now been rewarded with the achievement of the gold Cradle to Cradle certification. This motivates us to continue our work,” said Rob Heeres, Managing Director of nora.
Gold and silver certification for the nora range
Various color pigments are used for optimal results in nora’s rubber floors. Each of these pigments has been individually evaluated and certified. In addition to the 25 gold certifications, the remaining 20 colors from the noracare seneo and noracare uneo range have been awarded with silver certification.

About Cradle to Cradle Certified Certification
The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is dedicated to the development and promotion of a fully circular economy. Designing and producing according to the cradle to cradle principle means that all raw materials used can be completely reused without losing their value. The Cradle to Cradle certification examines and evaluates various categories, including the health of the material composition of the raw materials used, product recyclability, use of renewable energy sources, responsible water management, and compliance with social standards. The achievable certifications are Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The lowest standard reached in a category determines the overall assessment of a product.
“As there are hardly any products in the technical consumer goods sector that achieve 100 percent for all criteria, gold – especially in the construction sector – represents an above-average result,” confirms EPEA, an international research and consulting institute for implementing Cradle to Cradle solutions.
Excellent environmental and health compatibility
The Cradle to Cradle certification not only distinguishes the products themselves but also has a positive impact on scores for DGNB, LEED, and BREEAM building certifications. noracare is 100 percent recyclable as the residual materials are returned to the production cycle and used for new floor coverings. The innovative composition of noracare ensures high-quality surface properties and makes the product suitable for the highest requirements. Like all nora floors, noracare floors are free from PVC, other halogenated polymers, and phthalate plasticizers, contributing to good indoor air quality. Furthermore, noracare floors, along with all other Interface floors (carpet, LVT, and rubber sheets and tiles), are certified as carbon-neutral through the Carbon Neutral Floors™ program at no extra cost to customers. nora by Interface’s rubber factory works continuously to avoid CO2 emissions and thus reduce its carbon footprint. Inevitable CO2 emissions are voluntarily offset.
