Delrin has introduced a high molecular weight cored resin specifically developed for use in applications requiring high creep resistance and fatigue durability. Delrin® 51HSE further expands Delrin’s ability to replace metal, helping customers save costs and weight while reducing noise. It also enables smart design concepts that are beneficial for achieving a lower carbon footprint.

Groundbreaking resin for high-quality plastic gears
The new Delrin resin is based on a deep legacy of formulations that set the standard for high-performance plastic gears. For example, while Delrin 100 is known as designers’ first choice for highly demanding applications, Delrin 51HSE resin furthers these strengths and provides a step change in fatigue and creep performance.
Testing shows that the improvement in static gear strength of Delrin 51HSE is approximately 10 percent, but the real benefit comes from a two-fold improvement in durability, giving customers a cost-effective alternative to switching from metal gears or other more expensive solutions.
“Driving innovation remains an intrinsic part of our DNA,” said Sriram Afterhur, vice president and general manager of Delrin. “Our customers demand materials that exhibit unparalleled mechanical performance, exceptional durability and low global warming potential, without sacrificing design flexibility or ease of production. Innovations like Delrin 51HSE are why our customers know they can rely on us to deliver world-class resins that fit their most demanding end-use applications.”
